NATURAL LAW
From the 9/12 project:
This is a simple and easily understood principle:2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.
- Love God and
- the truth of His Justice.
- Love your fellow man.
Questions to consider:
In the Declaration of Independence there is an affirmation of Nature's Law with the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. But what laws enacted thereafter oppose Nature's Law?
Is the permitting of abortion opposed to Nature's Law?
Is the recognition of gay marriage acceptable under Nature's Law?
The acquiescence of some States the bondage of fellow man in involuntary servitude was practiced and legal until the ratification of Amendment 13 of the Constitution of the United States. What becomes a Nation that permits such laws?
I believe marriage between one man and one woman is part of Natural Law created by God. Man cannot change it anymore than the law of gravity. But that wouldn't prevent equal civil rights for same-sex couples in areas of health care coverage, medical decisions, property ownership, etc.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if abortion is covered by Natural Law or basic morals. (You choose to have sex, so abortion to escape that consequence is immoral. If that act was imposed by force, the choice was not made, so an abortion could be acceptable in the case of rape.)
I believe the Founders felt that slavery would cost the nation, and the lives lost in the Civil War is probably part of that. We still pay the price today in current race relations in some places. Slavery is definitely a violation of life and liberty and happiness.
I think God values freedom and choice and is pleased when we use these gifts to benefit all and not just for selfish reasons.
Re: "so an abortion could be acceptable in the case of rape"
ReplyDeleteIn rape, is the child also to become a victim? In all cases involving abortion, the child is innocent and without a voice. Isn't it is our obligation to protect the children?
